When things change, we change. When we change, things change.
This is good news.
Because, rather than islands unto ourselves, we affect and are affected by what’s around us. We are all part of Something. We are all one.
Did you watch the Oscar’s?
I’m not a big fan of awards shows but my partner was watching and I caught The Daniels. Oh, The Daniels. Those boys are my people. Yeah, it’s cool they won for Best Picture and their movie is incredible, but their acceptance speech was also a gift to us.
Daniel Kwan:
“The world is opening up to the fact that genius does not stem from individuals like us on stage, rather genius emerges from the collective. We are all products of our context. We are descendants of something and someone…There is greatness in every single person. You have a genius that is waiting to erupt! You just need to find the right people to unlock that.“
Let’s sum up why we love this:
We all have genius in us. We all - each one of us - have been given a manifestation tool of inestimable value. The more we open to our genius, maybe even first to the idea that this genius is indeed part of who we are (our God-given identity), the more we are drawn to the places and people that can see that, support that, and help us step more fully into it. (Can I get a hell yeah??)
We need each other. Society these days can be incredibly individualistic and competitive. I don’t believe this is our true nature. I don’t believe in a “self-made wo/man”. We all have helpers on the way. If you can’t see this, you may want to take a closer look. Or zoom out. These helpers come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, human and non-human forms.

Inspired by: Susan Stinsmuehlen-Amend
When I get the chance, I like to visit the studio of Susan Stinsmuehlen-Amend. In art (and in life), I’m inspired by the idea that “everything belongs”. I love how Susan makes sense and beauty out of seemingly disparate objects and materials. Check out more of her work (especially her glass work!) here.

One of my life tenets is I am allowed to change my mind as many times as I want. Guess what? You are, too. Life is too short to hold ourselves to the thoughts and ideas of yesterday. Give into your brilliance. Let yourself surprise yourself. Remember your fucking genius!
