'Pulled', found papers on cardstock, 2022
I have so many things I'm supposed to be doing right now. But none I'd rather be doing than sitting here, writing to you. Awwww
I know this is an "email newsletter", but I'd rather think of it like a letter. Maybe you used to write actual letters back in the day like I did? There's such an art to it. And so much communicated, not just through the words, but through the handwriting.
Handwriting was maybe the first art I fell in love with. Remember bubble letters?
There's so much to appreciate in the world, so much beauty to be found. So much art, isn't there? It's everywhere.
I lamented on Twitter last week, in the wake of the Will Smith stuff, that I want to live in a world where goodness makes as big of a splash as violence.
But that's not goodness' way, is it? Goodness is subtle, it's not attention seeking. It finds joy in the doing. In making a meal for friends, planting a garden, observing the starry night sky.
Art is life and life is art
it's the beat that runs through your heart
please believe it

Rosie has long been one of my favorite artists. After taking time away from music to have kids, she's back with new music and now a new podcast. "...Look, I've always been big on community. BIG ON COMMUNITY. The only way to know you are not alone is being in it with other people. HANDS DOWN. or HANDS UP! Raise em up!" This not your mother's Dr. Laura! She's not even a doctor. Just an artist who wears her heart on her sleeve.

One last thing I have to ask. Have you signed up for my Patreon yet? I'm making stickers, music playlists, monthly mail art, supportive creative community, etc. Tiers start at $5/month and I will be growing my offerings as I learn how to make more cool stuff.
