Let yourself be moved by what you love ♡
Too much orange for your inbox? I make no apologies. I love orange. I think it worked itself deep into my subconscious as a child. That is to say, it's not my fault I love it. It was a color my Nonna decorated with, I think?
Also we had orange shag carpet in the first house I ever lived in...apparently? I was too young to remember it, but I guess I do? You know. It's in there and it's coming through. Ha!
I wonder - what are the things you're drawn to?
My spouse went to see Nick Cave last night. His favorite artist. I have a lot of respect for Nick Cave as an artist and, as I've mentioned here before, I love his Red Hand Files.
His music though? Not my cup of tea. Too dark.
And I love that. Because there's room for everyone, for all the things you want to make and create. There's someone out there who needs you to make them.
I think of the art I love and I'm so thankful for the artists who make it. Bands I love that never got huge but still make music - 20 years later. Thank god they kept playing so that I could listen and be changed by what they do.
Jump + pray + let yourself be moved by what you love,

Local to Ojai? Go see some art this weekend
Write a line of text and hear it turned into music.
The neurodiversity paradigm is a real thing!
What if instead of working hard, we work easy?
A good thought about living inside hope.

"...having a working command of the creative process — that is, all those elements that lead to the making of art — is truly essential. The creative process unfolds as you find the essential tools in your toolkit. It means finding your subjects (not someone else's) and finding your materials (not someone else's) and most of all it means finding a way to live your life so that you can engage again and again the things you care about the most."
