Why you stare at the mountain 🌁
I know why you stare at the mountain's beauty,
for she reminds you of something vital in your self.
And nautral desire to explore her heights are just
there to help you reach your own summit.
That's a part of a poem called "Why You Stare At The Mountain" from A Year With Hafiz. I love the word "why" and I love this idea that nature has this power to call us into our potential.
It's no secret I'm into that. Potential. In myself and in others.
Maybe it has to do with losing some friends in my early twenties. Creative, vibrant beings. When you lose people, especially people so bright and full of life, if you can let that in, painful as it is, you can come out the other end with an urgency for living life and living it full.
Like the mountains, loss can call you out of your dead state, into your aliveness. If you let it.
One of the friends I lost was named Paul. He was in a band called History Invades. We put his records. I still get choked up when I think of him. This week, a video of his band surfaced on the internet out of nowhere. It's been super fun to get to see it and hear his music and remember him.
Two things: What we create lives on and the beauty of the mountain is the same beauty in you.
